AOC Claims Assault by Conservative Reporter—Journalist’s Video Evidence Says Otherwise!
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has accused conservative journalist Nick Sortor of touching her during a tense exchange at the United States Capitol. Sortor, who confronted Ocasio-Cortez about the ongoing southern border crisis, denies the claim and has released video evidence to back his account.
The interaction unfolded as Sortor pressed Ocasio-Cortez on the impact of illegal immigration on her district. “Your district is really suffering under the pressure of the border crisis,” Sortor said, attempting to get a response. Her staff quickly intervened, physically blocking Sortor’s path as he sought to reposition himself to continue the questioning.
Toward the end of the encounter, Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly told Sortor, “Sir, don’t touch me.” In response, Sortor insisted, “I did not touch you. I have it on video.” His footage appears to show no physical contact between him and the congresswoman, leading to questions about the validity of her accusation.
Sortor took to X (formerly Twitter) to provide further context, claiming that Ocasio-Cortez had contacted the United States Capitol Police following the incident. “I confronted AOC at the Capitol over her refusal to condemn the Biden Migrant Crisis, which led to a migrant setting an innocent woman on fire today,” Sortor wrote. “She responded by falsely accusing me of assault and even got the Capitol Police involved, who agreed I never touched her.”
He continued, “AOC is one of the WORST members of Congress, and her lack of action is costing the lives of innocent New Yorkers.” Sortor highlighted Ocasio-Cortez’s past remarks blaming Daniel Penny, a former Marine recently acquitted of manslaughter, for violence on New York City subways while she simultaneously advocates for policies encouraging unvetted migrants to enter the country.

The timing of the clash is notable, given recent violent incidents linked to the migrant crisis. Just this week, a Guatemalan immigrant allegedly lit a woman on fire aboard a subway car in New York City, further fueling concerns about public safety and border policies.
Critics argue that Ocasio-Cortez’s rhetoric and policies fail to address the realities on the ground, leaving her constituents vulnerable.
